Signs your marriage may not be working

On Behalf of Taege Law Offices | Aug 1, 2022 | Divorce |

On the day you got married, you assumed that you found your forever person. Marriages sometimes last that long, but there’s a possibility that they’ll end. The decision to divorce is a major life decision, so it’s one that you have to think about carefully.

When you have doubts about your marriage, it’s best for you to take a realistic look at your marriage to determine if it’s something worth saving. Part of that honest look is determining if you and your spouse can overcome the situation that’s causing turmoil.

Common reasons for divorce

There are a few situations that commonly lead to divorce. In some cases, more than one of these factors into the decision for a couple to split. While some of these might be able to be fixed, others could be beyond repair. Look for:

  • Constant arguments
  • Different money management principles
  • Changes in compatibility factors
  • Any type of affair
  • Decrease in ability to care
  • Unwillingness to be intimate
  • Presence of abuse
  • Addiction to any substance or activity
  • Allowing others to intrude in the marriage
  • Sickness or newly diagnosed medical conditions
  • Loss of physical attraction
  • Changes in the mental health of either partner

If you find that the underlying issues in your relationship run too deep, it’s okay to decide that you and your spouse would both be better off apart.

If you and your spouse do decide to divorce, you must ensure that you’re doing what you can to protect your interests. Working with someone who knows about divorces like yours is beneficial since you can draw from their knowledge.
